bumbaumel meint: Bio allein reicht nicht aus. Babytragen müssen zudem bequem sein und gut aussehen. Genau diesen Kriterien entsprechen unsere Slings und Mei Tais: Keine meterlangen Stoffbahnen, die nach komplizierten Bindeanleitungen geknöpft werden müssen, keine Ringe, keine Schnallen, kein Kunststoff. Nur du, dein Baby und Baumwolle in bester Bioqualität.
Wer wir sind: ein Startup aus Erfurt, gegründet von einer Babytrage-begeisterten Mama.
Alle unsere Produkte wurden mit echten Babys in allen erdenklichen Situationen ausprobiert. Zum Beispiel in Indien, wo wir unser eigenes bumbaumel-Mädchen drei Monaten lang auf dem Rücken getragen haben, während wir an Sampling und Produktion gearbeitet haben.
Wir wollten sicher sein, dass alle unsere Produkte unter den bestmöglichen Arbeitsbedingungen produziert wurden.
In Fabriken, die wir persönlich besucht haben und die vom TÜV-SÜD für “Social Accountability” geprüft worden sind (Norm SA 8000). Unsere Baumwolle stammt aus einer Biobaumwolle-Kooperative in Mahdya Pradesh, Indien, und wird fair gehandelt. Sie ist biologisch nachhaltig ohne Pestizide, Insektizide und Genmanipulation gewachsen.
Unser Bio-Standard garantiert nicht nur, dass die Baumwolle aus kontrolliert biologischem Anbau stammt. Auch die gesamte Produktionskette ist ökologisch orientiert.
Die Produktionsstätten in Indien verarbeiten ausschließlich “Control Union”-zertifizierte Biobaumwolle-Produkte. So gibt es keine Gefahr einer Kontaminierung mit konventionellen Materialen. Unsere Baumwolle wird umweltschonend mit azofreien Farbstoffen verarbeitet in einer von Indiens Öko-Zonen, in denen keine Chemie benutzt werden darf. Das bedeutet: kein Chemiedreck aus indischen Flüssen, keine gesundheitlichen Schäden für die Menschen dort und keine Kontaktallergien für Bumbaumel-Babys und -Mamas hierzulande. Alle bumbaumel-Produkte tragen das GOTS (bzw. EKO)-Label.
Auch unsere Verpackung, unsere Werbematerialen und unsere Logistik spiegeln unseren Wunsch wider, so ökologisch wie möglich tätig zu sein. Unsere Waren kommen ausschließlich per Schiff nach Europa. Sie werden mit kompostierbaren Minimalverpackung aus Zellstoff verpackt.
Und alle Printerzeugnisse, die unser Haus verlassen, werden mit Bio-Druckfarben auf Recycling-Papier gedruckt.

organic is important, but it is not everything. At bumbaumel we believe that baby carriers should be beautiful and easy to use, too. No complicated wrapping techniques, no rings and no plastic. Just you and your baby and 100% certified premium quality organic cotton.
Who we are: a mum owned startup in Erfurt, Germany. All our baby products have been tested with real babies and reallife babywearing situations.
For instance in India, where we carried our very own bumbaumel girl on our back three months long while we worked on sampling and production. Our slings and mei tais have been truly put to the test!
And not just that. We wanted to be sure that our products are produced under the best possible working conditions, in factories that we personally visited and that are approved by TÜV-SÜD for Social Accountability (Norm SA 8000) .
Our cotton is grown on a farmer’s collective in Mahdya Pradesh, India, where the growers themselves participate in establishing fair prices and no pesticides, insecticides or any kind of genetic modifications are used.
And our organic standard applies to the entire production chain, not just the cotton that goes to the mills. Our production facilities process only Control Union certified organics, so there is no danger of contamination with non-organic materials. Our cotton is processed with guaranteed low impact, AZO free dyes in one of India’s commercial eco zones, where no harmful chemicals may be used. This means: no dangerous chemical waste in Indian rivers, no health problems for the people living and working there and no allergies for bumbaumel babies and mums in our part of the world.
All bumbaumel products carry the GOTS (EKO) label.
We carry our environmental commitment clear through to packaging and logistics. Our goods are packed in a minimal layer of biodegradable cellulose.
We ship from India only by sea and when possible, we choose CO2 reduced transportation in the EU. All our printed materials are printed with ecofriendly ink on recycled paper.
